Capitec Headquarters The strategy for many modern designs it to obliterate the division between stories through strong vertical elements. An opposite approach has been taken here - with the horizontal layers of the stories being accentuated through their contrasting materials.
CRYSTAL TOWERS
Crystal Towers By contrasting the dark and transparent elements with a thick and solid surround, a masterly contemporary effect is created.
AQUARIUS
Aquarius Apartments: Located in the famous Blouberg Strand, with its unsurpassed views of Table Mountain, these apartents make an almost organic interplay of solid and void.
TOKARA WINERY
Tokara Winery Large areas of the facade are made up of seamless glass, and deeply protruding srtructural reinforced concrete elements are placed flush against it. Deeply varnished timber provides an element of authenticity and depth.
THE KPMG BUILDING
KPMG BUILDING: These diagonals, at very light angles are typical of modern deconstructivist style designs. The dark blue, grey and white colour scheme is also the latest trend in modernism.
BRIDGE PARK
Bridge Park: Located in Century City, the modern building is coloured entirely in black and white. The wide floating beam integrates the building form with the sky.
KNIGHTSBRIDGE
Kightsbridge Apartments: Located in Century City, the building has a very large bridge element that is made of luxury suites. A huge girder truss supports the bridge which visually binds teh building together to create this icon.
TRIDENT PARK
Trident Park: Typical of the style of TV3 architects, the high glass areas are positioned flush against the eaves. A sophisticated neutral colour scheme looks the most modern.
CURE HOSPITAL
Cure Hospital: Located in Somerset West, the cure hospital has a strong circular motif in the center, which is enclose by aluminium and glass curtain walling.
20 on KRIGE
20 on Krige: TV3 architects designed this contemporary style office building in Stellenbosch. The vast swathe of glass underneath the roofline helps to create a sense of lift and is typical of this firm's style.
SABLE PARK
SABLE PARK Designed by the most well-known firm in the Cape, DHK, the facades are either of vertical slit windows or a frosted smokey screen-wall - two highly contrasting but complimentary motifs.
CENTER FOR HIV
Center for HIV research The building is designed in a somewhat dated modernist style, with thin protruding elements in a bold colour. Architect unknown.
CHECKERS SITARI
The building was designed by Steyn Le Roux Truter and combines modern features with the Cape Vernacular style. The large barn shaped element is a multi-purpose venue.

Checkers Sitari - Interior :The interior had an exposed roof truss design and large aluminium screen-walled window.
CURRO SOMERSET WEST
Curro Somerset West :The building is in the modern Cape Dutch style, with a daring modernist A-frame that protrudes from the front facade. The architecture compliments the beautiful Helderberg Mountain backdrop.
WATERKLOOF
Waterkloof: This steel and glass montage is one of the most modern looking buildings in the Cape. Located at Waterkloof Winery in Somerset West on the slopes of the Heldereberg.

The slopes of Clifton boast many modernist marvels but the most outstanding is this almost organic bug-like design by Peerutin architects.
